CPI(M), Trinamool clashes in Bengal

Barasat, Nov 6: Several people, including police personnel, were injured when a clash erupted between CPI(M) and Trinamool Congress activists at Uttar Bahira village of Dadpur Panchayat area under Barasat police station in North 24 Parganas.

Police said three Trinamool cadres were arrested in connection with the clash which occurred yesterday.

Later, demanding release of their arrested party workers, the Trinamool activists attacked and injured police personnel, including the Barasat SDPO and Circle Inspector, at Golabari on Taki road. The mob also hurled stones at the police force and damaged a police vehicle.

Dadpur Panchayat member and Trinamool leader Ali Ahmed alleged that a group of CPI(M) activists had assaulted one of his party's supporters.

Mr Ahmed also alleged that CPI(M) cadres opened fire and hurled bombs on his party's supporters, adding that four of the Trinamool workers had sustained bullet injuries and were admitted to the hospital.

However, CPI(M) district committee leader Pradip Chakrabarty refuted the allegations.
