Patna, Nov 6: The BJP on Thursday, Nov 6 demanded immediate dismissal of the Maharashtra government for its failure in tackling the North Indian bashing issue that resulted in the killing of four Biharis.
Expressing anguish over the attacks by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on people from Bihar and UP, BJP MP and former union minister C P Thakur told newspersons here that such heinous crimes could not have been committed "without the collusion and connivance" of the union government. ''The Congress party is hand-in-glove with the MNS and Raj Thackeray,'' he stated, adding that four people were killed because of hatred unleashed by the MNS.
Dr Thakur said while Americans had risen above racism and voted for a Black president, leaders like Raj Thackeray and others were bent upon dividing India on the basis of language and region.
He demanded the Centre immediately dismiss the Maharashtra government under Articl 356 and impose Presidents rule in view of the failure of that government in tackling the situation.
He also asked Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to hold the recruitment examinations elsewhere and maintain transparency.
He asked political masters to stop the resignation 'drama' of MPs and MLAs and urged politicians from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil and demand an immediate stop to hooliganism in Maharashtra.
''The people of Bihar have always respected outsiders and strengthend the country's federal structure. It is unfortunate that most of the anti-Bihari events are taking place in the Congress ruled states of Maharashtra, Delhi and Assam,'' he pointed out.
He said the country was facing terrorist strikes and now the attacks by our own people in the name of region and language would compound the problem.
He also urged the Bihar government to improve the states economy and generate employment to prevent migration.
