Andaman scientists to attend international meeting on Leptospirosis
Port Blair, Nov 6 (UNI) Regional Medical Research Centre, Port Blair, Dr P Vijayachari has been invited to participate in a meeting, jointly organised by the World Health Organisation (Asia pacific Regional Office), University of Philippines and Kyushu University Japan at Manila, Philippines between November 6 and 7.
The meeting is being held with an objective to present a comprehensive update and review all aspects of Leptospirosis in the Asia Pacific Region, apart from developing a strategic planning for Leptospirosis prevention in the region.
Dr Vijayachari will deliver a talk on 'Evaluation of simple and rapid techniques for the early diagnosis of Leptospirosis' during the scientific meeting.
He will also participate in a workshop, which is expected to generate recommendations for the strategic planning for the prevention and control of Leptospirosis in the Philippines, which may serve as a model for other countries in the region.
The participation of Dr Vijayachari, who is the director of the National Leptospirosis Reference Centre and WHO Collaborating Centre for diagnosis, Research, Reference and Training in Leptospirosis in Southeast Asia Region, will help in sharing his experience in working in the field of Leptospirosis, RMRC's official release said.
