Jammu, Nov 6 (UNI) The Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar men's team of and Delhi University womens team bagged the Inter-University North Zone table tennis titles on the final day of the meet here today.
GND Amritsar, defeated Delhi University in men's section to lift the crown after a nail biting finish with the score of 3-2.
Piyush beat Varun Anand 11-5, 11-7, 11-9, Vandit lost to Sunal Jain 4-11, 11-4, 8-11, 10-12, Vikrant beat Ramit Bhatnagar 11-9, 11-8, 3-11, 7-11, 11-6, Piyush lost to Sunal Jain 6-11, 9-11, 1-11 and Vandit beat Varun Anand 11-8, 11-9, 11-8.
Meanwhile, in women category Delhi University claimed the title by defeating Punjab University Chandigarh 3-0.
Nikita Rautela beat Bhawna 11-4, 11-7, 11-4, Pallabi Parasar beat Sunanda 11-9, 11-5, 11-8 and Shyanta Paul beat Depinder Kour 12-14, 11-9, 12-10, 11-8.
Earlier in semifinal matches in women category, Delhi University beat Punjab University Patiala 3-0. In the second semifinal, Punjab University Chandigarh outclassed GNDU Amritsar 3-2.
In men's section, GNDU Amritsar thrashed PTU Jallandhar 3-1 and Delhi University beat Chandigarh University 3-1.
The University of Jammu hosted inter-university level national tournament after a gap of 12 years.
