Youth leader beats up freedom fighter in Punjab

Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 5 (UNI) The 90-year old freedom fighter Pritam Singh, a resident of Sidhupur Kalan village was allegedly beaten up by the president of the Sanghol unit of the Students Organisation of India(SOI) yesterday, police sources today comfirmed.

The SOI activist, Jarmanjeet Singh was arrested by the police after registering a case against him under sections 107,151 of the IPC. He was later released on bail.

The freedom fighter has been honoured at several block-level Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.

According to the report lodged by the freedom fighter, Jarmanjeet Singh, also of Sidhupur Kalan village, hit him with a stick and rod on his legs and arms, resulting in injuries. He was admitted at the Civil Hospital in Khamano where his condition was described as stable.

As per the police version, the cause of the attack was some personal enmity.
