Kerala: 2 Afghans deported to Kochi for fake passports

Kochi, Nov 5: Two Afghan nationals, including a woman, who left from the Kochi International Airport yesterday, were deported here from Colombo this morning as they were found to be travelling on allegedly forged passports.

The two, identified as Hameed Abbasi, 28, and Merhabha Fathima, 24, had reportedly confessed to having got the fake passports from an agent in Mumbai, airport sources said.

The duo would be further questioned by IB and RAW personnel to examine whether they belonged to any terrorist groups, they aded.

The two, claiming to be husband and wife, had left Kochi International Airport by the SriLankan Airlines for Colombo, on way to Frankfurt, yesterday.

On their deportation here this morning from Colombo, the two were grilled by Emigration personnel. The couple reportedly confessed that they met in Mumbai in Septrmber and had got the passports on paying US$ 6000 to an agent.
