Bhopal, Nov 5 (UNI) As a result of scanty rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, there is a possibility of sowing of wheat crop in less areas in Indore, Ujjain and Bhopal divisions of the state.
Official sources said rabi crops had been sown in an area of 27 lakh hectare, which is 31 per cent of the target, so far. This includes wheat (4.22 lakh hectare), gram (10.61 lakh), peas (1.47 lakh), 'masoor' gram (3.10 lakh), barley (17,000) and other pulse (23,000).
Sugarcane was sown in 10,000 hectare area.
Sowing area of rabi crop is 86.28 lakh hectare in the state. Rabi crops was sown in 76.82 lakh hectare area in 2007-08.
