Proposals cleared for providing financial assistance for federations

New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) The Sports Ministry has cleared nine proposals having financial implications of Rs 84.09 lakhs under the scheme ''Assistance to National Sports Federations''.

The proposals received from the various National Sports Federations were cleared by the Departmental Committee of the Ministry last month.

The ministry has approved Rs 4 lakh for holding of the Junior (Boys and Girls) National Badminton Championship slated to be held from 8-16 the December this year at Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu.

A sum of Rs 13,37,600 was released for the participation of Indian Boxing Senior (Women) team in World Women Boxing Championship to be held from 20-30 November at Ningbo, China.

For holding of Billiards and Snooker Championships for Sub-Junior (Boys and Girls), Junior (Boys and girls) and Senior (Men and Women) to be held from 8-30 at Indore the ministry has cleard Rs 4 lakh.

Apart from that the ministry has also released Rs 25.72 lakhs for the participation of Indian Handball Senior (Women) Team in the 12th Asian Women's Handball Championship to be held from 21 to 28th November at Bangkok and Rs 22 lakh for the participation of Indian Senior (Men and Women) team in 38th Chess Olympiad 2008 and Training from 12 to 25th November, 2008 at Dresden, Germany.
