Kerala: 3 yr jail term for encroaching Govt land
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 5: The Kerala government today decided to promulgate an ordinance to amend the Kerala Land Conservancy Act, 1957 providing for three years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 for occupying government land illegally.
Briefing mediapersons after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said punishment for forging registration documents for the purpose would be five years in jail and a fine of Rs 50,000.
The ordinance would be sent to Governor R S Gavai for his assent.
