NGO appalled by pollution in Imphal city
Imphal, Nov 5 (UNI) Improper traffic regulations and increase in vehicular movement has polluted Imphal city to the large extent.
The city has become unhygienic, J Kumrah, secretary of People's Right for Poverty Eradication, an NGO in Manipur said.
'' If the trend continues, the city may get the worst distinction of being the dirtiest capital in the country'', he added.
This is the International year of Sanitation and people should give importance to hygiene and pollution control, Mr Kumrah added.
He further said that most of the public places have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
The conditions of the hospitals like RIMS and JN hospitals are pathetic and the main women bazar, the Khwairamband Keithel in the heart of the city is full of garbage, he added.
Absence of public toilets is one issue the government should address.
''Manipur should be saved from the health hazards caused by garbage and pollutions'' he appealed.
