Nagaland sounded high alert for terror attack

Kohima, Nov 5 (UNI) Following the reports that Nagaland is likely to be the next target after Assam serial bomb blast, the Nagaland Home department has instructed police force to be in high alert for any eventuality in any part of the state.

Nagaland Home Minister Imkong L Imchen told UNI that just after the bomb blasts in Assam, he convened a high level meeting of all security-concerned departments and the security forces of the state and directed all the law enforcing agencies to remain on high alert against any possible attack by terrorist group.

Following his instructions, the higher ups in Police department also sounded high alert all along the Nagaland-Assam border to keep strict vigils on the movement of all persons across the inter-state border, he added.

He further said that maximum alert was sounded in Dimapur, which is said to be the safe heaven of terrorist groups of North-East and the only railhead for Nagaland and Manipur and also the only Airport of Nagaland.

On the reported movement of ULFA cadres in Mon district and Dimapur, the Home Minister said that there were reports of such movements of not only ULFA but also some ultras from Manipur.

'' But without the help of concerned state police, it is very difficult to identify the militants'' he said.

He also emphasized on the need of a strong information network of the police departments of Nagaland, Assam and Manipur to control such movement jointly.

Meanwhile, Central Security agencies also issued high alert on the report of establishment of an office by the ISI somewhere in Dimapur district and search operations are on to identify the terrorist centre, a top official of a security agency said.
