Bangalore, Nov 5 (UNI) The Karnataka Lok Ayukta raided the house of a senior official in the State Education Department and unearthed assets worth Rs 55 lakh, which was disproportionate to his known sources of income, here today.
In a release, Lok Ayukta said during the raid at the house of L Rangappa, Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI), Chitadurga District, officials seized cash, jewels, vehicles, insurance policies and records for owning buildings and lands from him, a Lok Ayukta release said.
The total assets of the accused was estimated at Rs 91.35 lakh, while the approximate income of the accused was calculated at Rs 3.5 lakh per annum. The accused joined service as a primary school teacher in 1976.
