Nagpur, Nov 5 (UNI) Australian captain Ricky Ponting today backed his bowlers, who have capped a lot of criticism on this Indian tour, and hinted that off-spinner Jason Kerjza might be given his maiden Test cap in the fourth and final Test starting here tomorrow.
Speaking to the mediapersons on eve of the fourth Test match, which will be played at Vidarbha Cricket Association's new stadium 16 kms from here, Ponting said his bowling attack had it in them to take 20 wickets in the match.
''I think we have the bowlers who can take 20 wickets. I have full confidence in them. I had seen the wicket yesterday and it looks like a typical Indian wicket with no grass,'' he said.
''It seems it will turn after three days of being a good batting wicket. We will be looking at fielding Jason Krejza,'' he added.
Meanwhile, Ponting also said his side will try and take full advantage of the absence of in-form batsman Gautam Gambhir in the Indian top order and put pressure on the new opening combination.
''He (Gambhir) has played very well from the first Test and has given good start to the Indian team with (Virender) Sehwag. They have also run very well and have good understanding. There will be a bit more pressure on the middle order (with Gambhir's ban). We have to take advantage of this,'' Ponting added.
The Australian captain also hoped that his team could make the last few days in international cricket of retiring former India skipper Sourav Ganguly unpleasant.
''He's been a great servant of Indian cricket and has led the country well. I know he will enjoy his last few days in cricket. But I hope we can make it unendurable for him by winning here,'' said the Aussie skipper.
