New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) Exuding confidence of beating Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on her home turf, BJP candidate for New Delhi assembly segment Vijay Jolly today sought to draw parallels between his fight against Ms Dikshit and the fight between US Democratic Party Nominee Barack Obama and John McCain of the Republican Party.

At his introductory press conference after being chosen by the BJP to contest from the New Delhi assembly segment, the constituency of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Mr Vijay Jolly said,''if the Democrat Barack Obama could defeat Republican John McCain in the US presidential elections then why can't Vijay Jolly defeat the Delhi CM in the New Delhi assembly seat?'' Addressing reporters, Mr Jolly said,''I am conscious of the fact that I am contesting against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from the New Delhi constituency. I intend to make the contest interesting, fierce, tough and a battle of her life.'' Saying that during the campaign he would touch upon local issues concerning the constituency, Mr Jolly posed three questions to the Chief Minister.

Claiming that despite being a VVIP constituency, people in New Delhi face a severe water crisis, Mr Jolly asked the Chief Minister whether, in the capacity of being the Chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board for the last almost 10 years and also being the head of Delhi Government, if she could name any one area in her constituency that receives 24X7 water supply as promised by her and Government during the last Assembly polls.

He also asked her to name any four areas in her constituency that received more than one or at the most two hours of water supply every day.

''The reality is that the people in New Delhi Constituency face severe water crisis. There is a virtual battle for survival being fought everyday. People are being subjected to mental and physical agony due to the failure of Delhi Jal Board. Despite being a VVIP area, the Chief Minister has failed to ensure regular supply of water in the area.

The common man has been left to fend for himself and is at the mercy of the water mafia who openly sell water tankers in New Delhi areas under political patronage of the ruling Congress ''Mr Jolly said.

Mr Jolly said in the coming days, he would highlight other issues and problems faced by the people of the constituency in course of his roadshows across the constituency.

Asserting that the time had come for a change in guard, Mr Jolly said,''new direction, dream and vision for development is the need of the hour. The objective of my contesting from New Delhi is to send across a message that Delhi needs dreamers, visionaries and young blood to take the forward leap. I intend to take the battle to Ms. Dikshit's camp in a fair and square manner. The focus of my campaign will be on local issues touching the Aam Aadmi in New Delhi constituency, failure of the Chief Minister and her Government to resolve and address these issues.''
