Film Artistes hold fast on Lankan issue
Chennai, Nov 5 (UNI) Members of yet another body of film artistes today observed a day-long fast to express solidarity with the suffering Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka.
After the Tamil Film Producers Council (October 19 at Rameswaram), the Human Chain in the city on October 24 and the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA) fast here on November one, it was the turn of Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) to stage a fast to condemn the attack on Tamils in neighbouring Sri Lanka.
The fast by FEFSI was observed in front of the Senthil Studio at Saligramam in which thousands of artistes took part.
Led by FEFSI President Vijayan, the fast was attended by Tamil Film Producers Council President Rama Narayanan, Directors R K Selvamani, R C Sakthi, Actors Radha Ravi, Ramesh Khanna, Jai Akash and Lyricists Thamarai and Piraisoodan, among others.
A giant pandal was erected at the venue which was dotted with posters and banners condemning Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse for attacks on Tamils.
Though SIFAA expressed its support to the fast and announced that actors would attend the fast organised by FEFSI, only a few were seen at the venue.
