Dr Pramod Sawant, BJP candidate for Pale assembly seat
Panaji, Nov 5 (UNI) The Goa unit of BJP today announced Dr Pramod Pandurang Sawant as their candidate for the Pale assembly constituency byelection on November 26.
The Pale seat had fallen vaccant earlier in June, this year, following the death of sitting Congress MLA Gurudas Gawas.
BJP state unit president Shripad Naik, in the presence of Dr Sawant and BJP leader Manohar Parrikar, speaking to mediapersons here today said, the party had recommended two names -- Dr Pramod Sawant and Dr Suresh Amonakar -- to the Central committee for approval.
Dr Sawant will file his nomination papers tomorrow, Mr Naik said, adding that BJP workers had already started their campaign at Pale constituency.
The BJP is expecting Shiv Sena's support, as they had promised to support the BJP candidate and the local manifesto will be prepared soon, Mr Naik said.
Dr Sawant said he had toured all the 26 booths of the Pale constituency and is confident of winning the seat.
