Jammu, Nov 5 (UNI) Dr B Mishra, Project Director, Directorate of Wheat Research, Karnal, has been appointed as new Vice-Chancellor of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu.
Dr Mishra's name was in the panel of three candidates shortlisted and forwarded to Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of the University, for selection by a four-member Search committee headed by Director General Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Dr Mangla Rai. The Committee also included a nominee each of the state government, the Chancellor and the UGC Chairman.
With over 37 years of experience in the field of research and 20 years in managerial capacity, Dr Mishra holds the unique distinction of being the only person to head the Directorate of Rice Research, Hyderabad and Directorate of Wheat Research, Karnal, the two important institutions contributing significantly towards national food security.
Besides this, he has been for three years in University of Sussex, United Kingdom and IRRI, Phillipines.
