Bowlers strike, Mumbai in command in Ranji Trophy

Mumbai, Nov 5 (UNI) Mumbai tightened its grip and were in a commanding position as Rajasthan, chasing a victory target of 409, were tottering at 63 for 4 in their second innings on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Elite 'A' match at the Brabourne stadium here.

Earlier, resuming at the score of 30 for two, Mumbai lost the early wicket of A Muzumdar (10), when he was dismissed by strike bowler P Singh. Despite this early shock, Rohit Sharma and opener S Kukreja made a splendid fourth wickets partnership of 171 runs.

Sharma scored 128 runs (22 x 4, 1 x 6) off 140 balls and was out by spinner G Singh. After his dismissal, opener Kukreja missed his century by 17 runs as strike bowler P Singh removed him.

Experienced allrounder Bahutule played an innings of 35 runs to take the score to 305 for seven. At tea, the hosts declared their innings and set a mammoth target of 409 runs for the visitors.

Chasing the target of 409 runs, Rajasthan lost its four batsmen on 53 runs as strike bowler Kukreja tormented their innings and took two wickets. Pawar and Malvi took one wicket each.

At the stumps, G Khoda was giving support to Maneria with the score reading at 63 for four.
