Badal assures Khaira of looking into complaints

Nadala, Nov 5 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today met Bholath Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira and more than 300 partymen in a 'sangat darshan' programme held here today and assured him of looking into slapping of alleged false cases against Congress workers.

Mr Khaira, in an half-an-hour-long meeting with the Chief Minister, alleged that victimisation of Congress workers was continuing at the behest of his political rivals at Bholath.

He also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, demanding transfer of Deputy Commissioner and inquiry by an DIG-rank officer of into the working of police stations in Bholath area.

He said of 33 criminal cases slapped against Congress workers in Bholath, 28 cases were found false in the probe at the intervention of Punjab Governor to whom he had submitted the list.

However, no action was taken against the erring police officers and the bogus complainants, he said, demanding registration of a corruption case against the then DSP Balbir Singh.

The Bholath MLA also brought to the notice of Mr Badal the ''partisan role'' of Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner for the arrest of 70 Congress workers to facilitate former SGPC President Bibi Jagir to re-laying the foundation stone of water supply scheme in village Akbarpur on October 12.

He also demanded action against BDPO Dhilwan for his ''role in misinforming and misguiding'' the Vidhan Sabha regarding the illegal encroachments at village Lakhan Ke Padde.

Mr Khaira urged the Chief Minister that government grants and development works be undertaken with the active involvement of elected representatives and the proposal of RS 2 crore per constituency be applied to all the MLAs irrespective of their party affiliations as in the case of MPLAD funds.

Mr Badal assured Mr Khaira that he would inquire into the complaints brought up by the legislator and initiate action as required.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a water supply scheme at village Ibrahimwal, laid the foundation stone of link road at village Miani Bhagupurian, a new grain Market and new building of a police station in village Begowal.

He also heard the grievances of people at sangat darshan in village Begowal. Bibi Jaigr Kaur was also present on this occasion. .
