New York, Nov 5: One more Indian student gets added to the list of four series of Andhra Pradesh student killings in US. Indian Software professional, Arpana Jinaga (hailed from Hyderabad), working with the EMC Corporation in Seattle, was strangulated to death in her apartment in the wee hours of Saturday, Nov 1, the autopsy has revealed. A case of homicide has been registered by the Redmond police on Tuesday, Nov 4 and has launched a massive manhunt to nab the assailant. Arpana lived alone in an aprtment in suburb of Seattle, Redmond.
James Sosik, the investigator at the King County Medical Examination Office, who conducted the autopsy, told sources that Arpana was strangulated to death at about 3.30 am on Saturday, Nov 1. Arpana's apartment on Redmond Woodinville was forced open shattering the door jam, said Sosik. "There is indication of a physical struggle by the victim," City police spokesperson Jim Bove told. The police on Tuesday, Nov 4 questioned a number of friends and work colleagues of Arpana along with those living in her apartment complex.
In the autopsy report, the cause of her death is listed as asphyxia due to ligature strangulation and the manner of death is homicide. How the injured occurred is listed as assaulted / strangled by other, it said. Arpana's body was found by Redmond police in her apartment Monday morning, after it received an emergency call from one of her friends. The friend, whose name has not been disclosed, went to check on her following a frantic call from her father B C Jinaga.
