Kozhikode, Nov 5 (UNI) As many as 2,000 talented youngsters from various universities are expected to participate in the South Zone Inter University Youth Festival 2008, beginning in the neighbouring Malappuram District on December ten.
About 40 students from each university would vie for honours in competitions in 27 disciplines, including music, theatre and paintings, Programme Committee Chairman C H Ashiq and Convenor K I Shebir told reporters here today.
Sponsored jointly by the Association of Indian University and the Union Sports Ministry, the event is being hosted by the Calicut University for the third time after 16 years, they said.
Eminent personalities from socio-cultural and political fields are expected to participate in the five-day programme.
Those winning first and second prizes from the events would qualify for the National Youth Festival to be held at Vidya Sagar University in West Bengal, they added.
