Chhatarpur, MP, Nov 5: Eleven suspected criminals were arrested and Rs 2.5 lakh seized from them in this district headquarters, police said today.
''On a tip-off that some criminals having links with kidney racket were putting up at an inn, police reached the inn and interrogated them. They were arrested when their reply was not found to be satisfactory,'' Superintendent of Police D Sriniwas Sharma said.
Apart from Rs 2.5 lakh cash, some worshipping material was also seized from them.
City Superintendent of Police U S Sikarwar said the suspected criminals belong to lower middle class families from New Delhi, Noida and Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi.
Police said suspected criminals could be members of the racket involved in idol theft or duping people in the name of 'tantra-mantra' or some other racket.
During initial interrogation, the accused had revealed that they had arrived here to visit Khajuraho, the famous tourist spot but were unable to reply satisfactorily to certain questions.
