Bhubaneswar, Nov 04 (UNI) The Orissa government today issued showcause notices to three doctors, who were dismissed for chopping the palms of three tribals killed during Kalinga Nagar Police firing.
Health Minister Sanatan Bisi said doctors were asked to explain why they should not be dismissed from service.
The Orissa Medical Service Association (OMSA) had described the government's action as a clear violation of the Orissa High Court order, which had directed the reinstatement of the three suspended doctors.
The OSMA had also submitted the resignation of 2,470 doctors to the government yesterday demanding the reinstatement of the doctors.
It also demanded the enactment of an act to provide security to doctors on duty.
When contacted, Mr Bisi said the government had issued the showcause notices to the doctors and would take a final decision on receipt of reply.
OMSA President Madhusudan Mishra said if the government did not fulfil their demands by November 8, they would presume that their resignations had been accepted and they would not join duty from November 9.
