Panaji, Nov 4 (UNI) Rohit Monserrate, son of the Goa Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate, who is accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old German girl, surrendered before the Calangute police today.
The Calangute police had served summons on October 14 to Rohit to appear before them on or before November three.
Accordingly, a police team had yesterday made an abortive attempt to arrest Rohit by conducting searches at the Miramar and and Taleigao residences of Mr Monserrate. The education minister had assured the raiding police officials that he would persuade his son to surrender before them tomorrow afternoon, said North Goa Superintendent of Police Bosco George.
He, however, refused to provide any details of the report of the medical examination conducted on the minor girl, which was held on Sunday at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC). He also declined to comment on what the girl had stated before the judicial First Class Magistrate, Mapusa in camera on Saturday.
