New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) No nominations were filed on the first day of filing of nominations for the November 29 polls to the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
The process of filing of nomination for polls to the 70-member House began today with issuance of notification by the State Election Commission.
However, no nominations were filed on the first day, Deputy Chief electoral officer for Delhi J K Sharma said.
As per the notification, signed by Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna this morning, November 11 has been fixed as the last date for filing of nominations, scrutiny of which will be done on November 12.
The last date for the withdrawal of candidatures is November 14.
Counting of votes will be done on December 8. The term of the present Legislative Assembly of Delhi is expiring on December 17.
The Opposition Bharatiya Janta Party has declared names of candidates for 53 assembly seats while the ruling Congress is yet to release a list of its candidates for the polls although it had last week finalised names of candidates for 53 seats.
