Patiala, Nov 4 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh bundled out on 372 in 122 overs against Punjab's mammoth total of 664 on the final day of the North Zone Inter-State Cricket Tournament (Under-22) for CK Nayadu Trophy here today.
Overnight 324 for 7, Himachal Pradesh could add only 48 runs before being all out for 372.
Ravikant (39) and Vishal Sharma (32) held the innings together, but for just a brief. The only redeeming feature of Himachal Pradesh innings was a brilliant century scored by Munish Thakur (104 with 17 fours) which he notched up yesterday on a perfect batting track.
For Punjab, the ever-reliable left-arm spinner Rajwinder Singh bowled a nagging length to capture 4 for 88, supported by Gaurav Gambhir who took 2 for 59.
In the second essay, Punjab had scored 235 for 3 in 55 overs at close of play. Satpal scored a fine unbeaten century (101), while Mayank Sadana was a perfect foil to Satpal, missing his ton by a whisker. He scored 99, hitting 12 fours and a huge six. The first wicket partnership between Satpal and Sadana yielded 167 runs.
For Himachal Pradesh, Ajay Saklani bagged 2 wickets, conceding 73 runs and R Dhawan took 1 for 37.
