Panchkula, Nov 4 (UNI) Dhaka Warriors recorded their fourth victory as they defeated Ahmedabad Rockets by 13 runs in the 29th match of the ICL20s Indian Championship being played at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Sector 3 here last night.

Dhaka Warriors have so far collected nine points while Ahmedabad have suffered their fifth defeat from seven outings they have played so far. They have four points from two wins in their kitty.

Nazimuddin and Mahbubul Karim adjudged the joint man of the match.

Set to score a difficult task of scoring 182 for victory, Ahmedabad made a spirited reply as they scored 168 for 8. Opener Murry Godwin of Zimbabwe played a great innings of 59 in 47 deliveries which contained seven fours and one six. Sridharan Sriram remained not out on 23 which came off 17 deliveries.

Murry Godwin and Australian John Campbell opened the Ahmedabad Rockets innings. In the first ball of the fourth over Campbell (12) came down the track in an attempt to lift Tapash Baisya out of the ground but got an inside edge onto the leg stump. The wicket fell at 27. Alok Kapali broke the 46-run third wicket partnership between Godwin and Damien Martyn in the 12th over. Godwin, while playing Kapali on the leg side, gave a catch to substitute fieldder Reza.

In the next over Martyn (20) departed as he lofted Mosharraf Hossain to Mohammad Sharif at long on.

The end of the 15th over had Ahmedabad Rockets placed at 116 for 4, needing another 66 runs off 30 balls and six wickets in hand. The Dhaka bowling was however spot on destroying the lower middle-order of the Ahmedabad Rockets to leave them struggling at 131 for 7 at the end of the 17th over, left with an almost impossible task of needing 51 runs off the last three overs. In the end the Ahmedabad side fell well short of their target by 13 runs.

Earlier, Ahmedabad Rockets captain Damien Martyn won the toss and elected to field. Jason Gillespie gave Dhaka Warriors an early jolt dismissing opener Shahriar Nafees (5) in the second over with scoreboard reading 15. Aftab Ahmed (16) joined opener Nazimuddin (48) and they took the score to 43 in the fifth over before Streak struck back with the wicket of Aftab Ahmed.

At the end of the fifth over Dhaka Warriors were placed at 50 for 2. Gillespie came back for a second spell in the 10th over and picked up the prized wicket of Nazimuddin. Nazimuddin's 48 came off 29 balls and was laced with 3 fours and 4 sixes.

The 11th over mark had the Dhaka side well placed at 93 for 3 and the dangerous Alok Kapali holding the batting mantel. Martyn introduced spinners Kalia and Sriram in the crucial middle overs who managed to plug the Dhaka run flow to some extent. Sriram got the big break by castling Alok Kapali (26) in the 14th over. Sriram struck again dismissing skipper Habibul Bashar (17) in the 16th as Dhaka Warriors scoreboard reading 128 for 5.

Mahbubul Karim took over the batting mantel playing a lovely cameo laced with some brilliant stroke play. Dhiman Ghosh was playing the perfect foil to Karim in the brilliant 6th wicket partnership worth 53 runs. Gillespie scalped his third victim in form of Ghosh out for a well made 18. Karim's unbeaten knock was worth 44 runs off only 22 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Dhaka Warriors set their Ahmedabad counterparts a competitive target of 182.

Old war horse Jason Gillespie was the most effective bowler for Ahmedabad as he took four wickets for 29 runs in four overs.

Sridharan Sriram got 2 for 37.
