Central water scheme cleared for Pithapuram town
Kakinada, Nov 4 (UNI) Union minister of state for Defence M M Pallamraju today said a drinking water scheme with an outlay of Rs 22 crore has been sanctioned for Pithapuram town under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM).
Participating in the 'Indiramma Sambaralu' function at Pithapuram, 25 kms from here, he said there was no dearth of funds for infrastructure development like roads, drains and drinking water.
But the delay in submitting proposals came in the way of early sanction of funds.
He assured prompt sanctioning of funds if the proposals were submitted early. He suggested to the municipal councils of Pithapuram, Kakinada, Samalkot and Peddapuram to go in for a common dumping yard as these towns constituted a cluster within a radius of 30 km. This would offer a permanent solution to the problem of disposing off garbage.
