Another senior Hurriyat leader arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 4 (UNI) A senior moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) under Abdullah Manan Bukhari was arrested by the police near the amalgam headquarters at Rajbagh.
A spokesman of the Republican Movement, a constituent of the HC, said today that Mr Bukhari was leaving the Hurriyat headquarters when he was arrested by a police party and later lodged in police station Rajbagh.
More than 100 leaders and workers of both the factions of the HC besides senior separatist leaders, including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik, Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Jamait-ul-Ahalhadeen Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, Dukhtaran-e-Milat chief Aasiya Andrabi and three acting chairmen of the breakaway HC were arrested during the past two months.
A majority of them were later detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for two months, to prevent them from leading an anti-poll campaign in the valley.
Almost all mainstream local political parties and leaders have criticised the government for arresting the separatists.
