121 sets of nomination papers rejected in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Nov 4 (UNI) As many as 121 sets of nomination papers, submitted from 51 assembly constituencies spread across eight districts in the second and last phase of the Chhattisgarh polls, were rejected after scrutiny today thereby leaving about 800 candidates in the fray.
''The maximum six nomination papers each were rejected in Surguja district's Lundra and Raipur's Baloda Bazar,'' State Deputy Electoral Officer Arvind Dixit told UNI here.
Among prominent nominees, the papers of former chief minister Ajit Jogi, his wife Renu, Bharatiya Janata Party state President Vishnudeo Sai, his Congress counterpart Dhanendra Sahu and Deputy Speaker Badridhar Diwan were found to be in order.
November 6 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature, polling is scheduled for November 20 and counting on December 8.
Objections raised regarding the legality of papers submitted by Agriculture Minister Megharam Sahu, from Janjgir-Champa's Sakti seat, would be heard tomorrow.
