12 helicopters requisitioned for sensitive areas in Bastar
Jagdalpur, Nov 4 (UNI) Preparations are being made in a phasewise manner to ensure free and fair polls in Bastar division of Chhattishgarh with election observers appointed by the Election Commission reaching respective areas.
Besides, 12 helicopters had been requisitioned to ferry polling parties to sensitive areas.
Commissioner (Bastar) R S Vishwakarma said training was being provided to election workers for 12 assembly segments. First phase of training has been completed in several places.
The Election Commission has changed timings for polling in Bastar in view of sensitive circumstances here. Polling would be held from 0700 hours to 1500 hours in Bastar.
He said fifty per cent area of Narayanpur assembly segment fell in Bastar, while other fifty per cent in Narayanpur district.
Counting of Narayanpur district would be done in Jagdalpur. Heavy paramilitary force has been requisitioned in view of security.
Besides, an insurance cover of Rs five lakh was being done for every election officer on duty.
Police have been directed to keep an eye on anti-social elements.
