Two of the three bombs, hidden in motorcycles, exploded around noon near the site of an outdoor meeting of village leaders at the local administrative office in Sukhirin district in Narathiwat. Authorities disconnected mobile phone signals in the area to foil more explosions. More than 3,000 people have been killed in separatist violence since early 2004 in Thailand's three southern Muslim-majority provinces of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani bordering Malaysia.
