Singur, Nov 3 (UNI) Two people were today arrested on charges of attacking Leader of Opposition Partha Chatterjee at Ghanshyampur, while the Trinamool Congress leader was on his way here.
Singur Circle Inspector D P Pouranik informed that CPI(M) workers --Ashok Chakraborty(30) and Ashok Hambir(35)-were apprehended this morning. While the former was a resident of Ratanpur, the latter hailed from Buroshanti.
They were accused of orchestrating attacks on Mr Chatterjee yesterday, apart from damaging his car, Mr Pouranik added.
So far, 15 complaints had been registered in the local police station collectively by the Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) activists, he added.
Local Trinamool Congress MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharjee was present at the Singur Police Station to help his party's workers lodge their complaints.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress workers have called for an agitational programme which involved gheraoing Singur Police Station at 1600 hrs.
