Kolkata, Nov 3 (UNI) Six people were arrested and 15 apprehended so far in connection with the landmine explosion at Salboni in West Midnapore district, official sources said today.
The high-level enquiry committee, headed by Director General of Police (DGP) Anup Bhushan Bhora, reached the explosion site during the day and started its investigations, sources said.
Mr A K Maliwal and other senior police officials were assisting the enquiry while forensic teams were also reaching the place.
The nature of the explosion and all sides of security lapse were being probed, sources maintained.
Meanwhile, the CPI(M) is observing ''condemnation day'' throughout the state in protest against the incident.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan, his deputy Jitin Prasad and state Industries Minister Nirupam Sen narrowly escaped in Maoist ambush at Salboni yesterday while they were returning to the city after unveiling the countrys largest steel project at the place.
