Siwan, Nov 3 (UNI) Panic gripped this entire township apprehending more trouble after one person was shot dead and another injured by some gangsters at the Bara Masjid chowk here last night.
The incident took place in the heart of this north Bihar headquarters, infamous for being the base of Mohammad Sahabuddin, the jailed RJD MP, when two motor cycle borne armed criminals opened indiscriminate fire on the victims as they were sipping tea at a roadside stall.
As a result one Bablu, alias Sagir Alam and the relative of an aide of Md Sahabuddin, died on the spot, while his associate sustained multiple bullet injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.
Apprehending trouble, soon the local shopkeepers brought down their shutters and the entire township wore a deserted look.
However, no further untoward incident took place.
SDPO Sudhel Kumar, who rushed to the spot with a strong contingent of police, was camping in the area to prevent any further trouble.
However, none had so far been arrested, police sources here today said.
