Kannur (Kerala), Nov 3: Local people paid rich tributes to a jawan on his second death anniversary even as security personnel intensified their search in this district for those linked with extremists in Kashmir. Irrespective of community or religion, people paid tributes to K Mohammed Asharaf (36) who was killed in an encounter with Pakistani infiltrators on Nov 2, 2006.
Asharaf was a social worker before joining the Armed Forces and had helped all irrespective of religion, his classmate P Sajeevan said.
In recognition to his contribution to the society, his photo was placed at the pooja rooms of at least 15 houses in the locality.
Kannur is in news following the death of two persons in Kashmir in connection with terror links, in October this year.
Police arrested Mohammed Faizal and Abdul Jaleel and took into custody ten people for alleged terror links.
