By Staff

Jammu, Nov 3 (UNI) After a gap of almost 12 years, the University of Jammu hosted the North Zone Inter-University National Table Tennis Championship for boys and girls, which started here today.

The championship was declared open by the University Vice Chancellor Prof Amitabh Mattoo in which 30 teams of boys and girls are participating.

''Over 50 universities were expected to take part in a four-day long championship but only 30 teams including 16 of boys and 14 of girls have confirmed their entries,'' Ramesh Sharma, in-charge Jammu University told UNI.

Sharma said this was an honour for the University to host such a prestigious championship after a gap of one decade.

Meanwhile Prof Mattoo in his inaugural address appreciated the efforts of staff for raising first class infrastructure for the championship and assured that such events will be organised in routine by the Jammu University for better sports activities.
