Haryana to spend Rs 1276 cr on rural development projects

Chandigarh, Nov 3 (UNI) The Haryana government would spend a sum of Rs 1,276 crore during the current financial year on various rural development projects in the state, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said today.

Mr Dharambir, who was addressing the panchayat representatives after reviewing the ongoing developmental works at Badhra in district Bhiwani, said that under the guidance of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the state had taken new initiatives in the field of rural development.

He said Rs 550 crore would be spent upto March next on rural developmental works to be done under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the state.

He said Rs 200 crore would be spent under Haryana Grameen Development Grant Scheme. As per the recommendations of the Third Finance Commission, a sum of Rs 235 crore would also be incurred on rural development.

Besides, a sum of Rs 91 crore would be spent on development works to be done in 391 villages having Scheduled Castes population.

The Chief Parliamentary Secretary said the Chief Minister was of the view that facilities at par with cities should be made available in rural areas of the state.
