Bhubaneswar,Nov 3 (UNI) The All India Democratic Womens Association (AIDWA) today urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to accede to the request of nun Meena and hand over the investigation to the CBI.

AIDWA President Suhasini Ali told newspersons here that the nun, allegedly raped in Kandhamal, had undergone horrific experiences and the government must handover the investigation to the CBI '' just to accede to her request.'' The Supreme Court while adjudicating a case filed by Cuttack Archbishop Rafael Cheenath, had rejected the request to handover the case to the CBI.

Ms Ali, who alongwith other members of the Association visited Kandhamal on November 1 and 2, said while the villagers in many areas were trying to renew their old bonds some forces did not want harmony to be restored.

The AIDWA urged the government to take tough action against them.

She requested the government to start NREGA works near the relief camp sites and in other places of the district to provide livelihood opportunities to the affected people. '' Such steps would also prevent migration of people, improve their lot and help bring the people of different communities together,'' she added.

Ms Ali also urged the Chief Minister to wave the bank loans, provide fresh loan to purchase cattle, extra clothes, books to students of higher classes in the riot affected areas.

A delegation of the AIDWA later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
