EC directives for officials' transfers undue--Raj Minister
Jaipur, Nov 3(UNI) Rajasthan Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Government Spokesman Rajendra Singh Rathore has termed "undue and unreasonable" the Election Commission's directives for transfers of Collector, Superintendent of Police and other high officials in different districts ahead of the December 4 Assembly polls.
Talking to UNI here today Mr Rathore said the commission did enjoy the powers to issue such directives to the government but it was not appropriate to ask for transfers without investigation in the matter and/or complaint against the officer concerned.
The Minister said he was unable to understand the need and/or urgency for transfers in this manner.
The District Collector of Churu, Superintendents of Police of Dausa and Sirohi districts and about half a dozen senior RAS officers in different districts, linked directly with the election process, had been transferred following directives from the Election Commission.
The commission was in Jaipur on Friday and Saturday last to review administrative preparations and hold interaction on poll related issues with representatives of political parties.
