Pune, Nov 2 (UNI) Top seed Saina Nehwal of India needed just 25 minutes to beat Japan's Sayako Sato and thus win the women's singles title in the world junior badminton championships played at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports city, Balewadi here today.
Saina, who is in the top 15 ranking list in the world won in straight sets at 21-9, 21-18 to help herself to the title.
Saina began the match in great form toying with her opponent as she took a commanding lead and then wrapped up the first game at 21-9 with a flurry of smashes.
The Japanese girl, however, came back strongly and gave a good fight to the Indian, who used all her experience to quell the challenge and finally win the second set at 21-18 and with it the match.
In the men's final in a battle of two Chinese players, top seed Gao Huan was stunned by third seed Zhengming Wang in straight sets.
Wang won the match at 21-13, 21-16 in around 30 minutes to win the title.
