Punjab pile up 664 against HP in Nayadu Trophy

Patiala, Nov 2 (UNI) On the second day of North Zone Inter-State cricket tournament (Under-22) for C K Nayadu Trophy, Punjab piled up a massive total of 664 before being all out in 164.1 overs against the weaklings, Himachal Pradesh at Dhruve Pandove Stadium here today.

Resuming on 336 for 3, Punjab batsmen made merry today, sending the Himachal Pradesh bowlers on a leather hunt.

Tarvar Kohli scored a sparkling century (145) to set the tone for other Punjab batsmen to cash in on a solid foundation and score freely. Consequently, Hitesh Anand (82), Gaurav Gambhir (64) and Mayank Sadana (54) were in the thick of runs and Himachal Pradesh bowlers had to toil hard throughout the day to capture wickets which fell at regular intervals.

For Himachal Pradesh, Ajay Saklani and Ajay Rana captured 3 wickets each, conceding 169 and 94 runs respectively. Aditya Chowdhary took 2 for 94.

In reply, Himachal Pradesh scored 38 for no loss in 13 overs before the close of play. Jarnail Singh (15) and Munish Thakur (21) were unbeaten at stumps.

The 4-day match will continue tomorrow.
