INS Chilka to celebrate Navy day on December 4

Bhubaneswar, Nov 2 (UNI) INS Chilka will celebrate the Navy Day on December four to commemorate the glorious achievement of the Indian Navy during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which culminated in the liberation of Bangladesh.

The event would include 'Beating the Retreat', Navy band display, fireworks presentation and a drill.

As a part of the programme the INS Chilka, in association with the Red Cross Society of India, organised a blood donation camp at Chilka yesterday.

It also planned a series of programmes like organising health camps at Chhatagarha and Barkul on November nine and November 23 respectively, and opening its ships for visiting Paradip Port on November 16.

Moreover, an interschool quiz competition will be held on November 23, while an inter school sports championship will be organised between November 24 and November 28.

A mela will also be organised at Chilka during the same period.

The INS Chilka has also planned to arrange an AIDS awreness camp in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Balasore and Chilka on December one, apart from organising a film festival from December five to December eight and a Navy Veteran Sailors Union day on December seven at Chilka.

For the first time, veteran sailors residing in Orissa would be invited for the event, INS Chilka sources said.

In addition to it, a sailing workshop-cum-Chilka Lake Mouth Sailing Expedition would be conducted in association with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the state in mid-November.

Around 150 youths from various districts of the state are scheduled to take part in the mega event.
