Grame Hick joins ICL, will play for Chandigarh Lions

By Staff

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Former England Test player Graeme Hick has joined the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) and the middle-order batsman will play for Chandigarh Lions in the remaining matches of this season.

''I am greatly honoured to be associated with the ICL and hope to do my best for them,'' Hick was quoted as saying by 'Cricinfo'.

The second highest run-scorer in all cricket (first-class and limited-overs combined) Hick has ended his 25-year county carrer two months ago. The right-handed batsman has scored more than 64,000 runs, with a whopping 136 hundreds.

The 42-year-old has also played 37 Twenty20 matches in his county career, and scored two hundreds and ten half-centuries.

However, Hick's inclusion has a shot in the arm for the Lions team as they are already a deplted side due to the suspension of their regular captain former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns and former India batsman Dinesh Mongia due to their alleged involvement in the match fixing.

Chandigarh are currently in fifth place with three matches to go in the round-robin phase.
