Bhopal, Nov 2 (UNI) Coming down heavily on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and other Hindu outfits, Congress General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh today held those organisations responsible for fanning communal violence in the country.
''The RSS and its sister organisations are violent by nature.
Violence is their strength. I have several pieces of evidence to prove my point,'' Mr Singh told reporters here today.
Targeting former Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activist Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur alias Sadhvi Purna Chetnanand Giri for her alleged involvement in the Malegaon blasts, he pointed out her shifting from Indore to Surat and ''involvement'' in planting bombs at Surat. Mr Singh alleged that the sadhvi also assisted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during polls.
Lauding the role of Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorist Squad for bringing Hindu fundamentalists to book, he added, ''the ATS is investigating along the right track and should be complimented for what it is doing.'' Mr Singh also pointed out that the state's industrial capital Indore had become a terrorism hub and held the state's Bharatiya Janata Party regime responsible for spiralling insurgency.
''Whenever the BJP comes to power, communal violence takes place near mosques,'' he alleged while terming it as ''uncanny coincidence.'' Mr Singh, who was here to attend an apolitical meeting, claimed that the Congress managed to curb violence in Punjab and also took adequate measures to contain violence in the North-East.
