APCC calls upon party workers to work hard
Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today called upon its new office-bearers to work hard in coordination with the workers from gross-roots level to strengthen the party in view of the upcoming elections next year.
Addressing a press conference after charing over the first meeting of the office bearers at Gandhi Bhavan here, Pradesh Congress President D Srinivas said the party had asked them to work hard in their respective areas taking into confidence of the party workers.
He said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who also attended the meeting, advised the office bearers and workers to highlight the developmental and welfare schemes initiated by the government during four-and-half-years rule.
The government had taken up several welfare schemes, including, Rs two-a-kilo rice scheme, distribution of pensions, construction of houses under Indiramma housing scheme, scholarships to backward class students and Aarogya Sri Health Insurance Scheme, besides imlementing Central progrmames like National Rural Employment Guarantee and farmers loan waiver schemes.
It was the responsibility of the party leaders, workers and office bearers to highlight these schemes to the people and to gain their confidence.
The meeting thanked the UPA government, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and AICC President Sonia Gandhi for according classical status to Telugu language.
