15 Indian-Americans running for various offices in US poll
Washington, Nov 2 (UNI) A record number of 15 Indian-Americans are running for state and local offices in the United States and countries for which polling will take place along with the Presidential election on Tuesday.
Three of them are seeking reelection to the state legislatures on Democratic Party's tickets: Swati Dandekar (Iowa), Raj Goyle (Kansas State) and Jay Goyal (Ohio). Paul R Singh and Tony Patel, both Democrats, are fighting for the Assembly seats in California.
Following is the full list of Candidates for 2008 and almost all of them are Democratic Party's nominees.
In California, those who are running for the City Council membership are Amarpreet Dhaliwal, City of San Joaquin (Fresno County), Ash Kalra, City of San Jose (Santa Clara County) and Harpreet S Sandhu, City of Richmond (Contra Costa County).
Apart from these, Jack Sidhu, City of Kerman (Fresno County), Kish Rajan, City of Walnut Creek (Contra Costa County), Navdeep K Garcha, City of Richmond (Contra Costa County) and Susie V Nagpal, City of Saratoga (Santa Clara County) are also fighting for the City Council membership.
In the Harris County of Texas, Ashish Mahendru is seeking election to the 334th Civil District Court Judge and R K Sandill to the 127th Civil District Court Judge.
