UN Secy Gen Ban Ki-Moon arrives on 2-day trip to B'desh
Dhaka, Nov 1 (UNI) UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, accompanied by his spouse Ban Soon-taek, arrived here this evening on a two-day visit.
Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury received him at Zia International Airport as he alighted from a special flight from Kathmandu.
The Secretary-General would hold official talks with the Foreign Adviser tonight, in which UN development programmes in the country and Bangladesh's UN peacekeeping missions are expected to figure prominently.
The UN chief would call on President Iajuddin Ahmed and Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed tomorrow.
He is also likely to meet some political leaders.
Mr Ban would visit the National Mausoleum at Savar tomorrow to pay homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
He would also visit a UNDP-funded Comprehensive Disaster Management Project in Sirajganj and a Grameen project site in Bogra.
