Jammu, Nov 1 (UNI) Jammu Divisional Commissioner Sudhanshu Pandey has passed special instructions to various government departments for facilitating comfortable stay and other arrangements for Hajj pilgrims in the winter capital city.
Reviewing the arrangements for Hajj pilgrims at a high level meeting held here yesterday, Mr Pandey asked the Municipal Department to carry out a special cleanliness drive before the arrival of Hajj pilgrims on November 11.
He also asked the Traffic Department to pre-designate the routes for the SRTC buses, ferrying passengers from Rajouri, Poonch and other areas so that city roads are not congested.
The Divisional Commissioner suggested setting up of a meeting room within the Hajj House for the pilgrims to interact with their relatives.
Besides, he said arrangements should be made for imparting instructions to pilgrims, internet and STD facilities.
During the meeting, it was apprised that the arrangements for the stay of 1195 Hajj pilgrims from different districts of Jammu province have been made at the newly constructed Hajj House at Rail Head, Jammu.
The overall management and supervision of pilgrims during their stay in Jammu would be with Deputy Commissioner, Jammu while the arrangements for lighting, drinking water and Health would be supervised by departments concerned.
Senior government officials, including Jammu Inspector General of Police K Rajindra, Jammu Deputy Commissioner Mandeep K Bhandari, Deputy Commissioner, Samba and Mr Saurabh Bhagat, Administrator, Auquf-i-Islamia, attended the meeting.
