Seven members of marriage party die in road mishap in HP

Shimla, Nov 1 (UNI) Seven members of a marriage party including a woman were killed and five others injured when a jeep carrying them fell into a gorge at Balkhnair near Anai in Kullu district last night, police said here today.

The jeep carrying 12 members of the marriage party rolled down and got stuck in between the rocks in the gorge.

Three seriously injured were refered to Indra Gandhi Medical College hospital here while the remaining two were given medical aid at the Regional Hospital in Anai.

The deceased are identified Nihal Chand (37), Rakesh Kumar (22), Deela Ram(62), Bhagat Singh (33) driver, Sagar Dass (28), Neelam(24) and Dhanshi Ram (45).

The adminstration has released immediate reilef of Rs 10,000 each to the relatives of the deceased and Rs 5000 to the injured.

The marriage party alongwith the bridegroom was on its way to Langoti village in Kullu district from Sholi village of Rampur in Shimla district. The mishap occured just 3 kms from Langoti village and the reasons for the mishap were not yet known.
